C1880 Victorian Lance Shape Copper Fireplace Ale Warmer. A rare, mid to late 19th Century copper ale warmer, that is surprisingly shaped in a spear head point.

It looks from one side as an ordinary copper serving pot, but has a long spur that runs off the base, tapering towards the end. The reason for this is so as to stick the tapered end into the embers of the fire. Being hollow, the ale warms up quickly and can then be poured into a tankard or jug. It can hold 3 pints (1.5 litres). The base is stamped H.

We have not been able to determine when and where the company was formed. It looks like it later became W & H Bradley.

Condition is very good, without any major knocks, but it does leak slightly from a couple of holes. Size: 14 x 44 x 13cm (5 1/2 x 17 1/4 x 5 ins) Weight: 852g. Have a look at our other items.
