Antique Victorian hand made copper colander / sieve. An unusual, very large professional size colander which would have been used in the kitchens of a grand house or hotel. With two handles, firmly fixed with copper rivets.

There is some silver coloured residue here and there, so it may have been tin covered originally. There is a stamp one the side which reads'Farmer & Chapman 1940'. This would be an owner marking their property - possibly a hotel etc. Dimensions - 41cm dia x 18cm H / Weight 1.7kg. A very tactile and useful item, which has been well used over the years.

This can be seen in the surface wear and few knocks it has collected over time, all of which adds to its character. You can only wonder at the many stories from kitchens of the past this super piece could tell! It would make a wonderful addition to any kitchen copper collection.
