Huge antique 19th century French hammered copper dofeu / braising pan. Formed from one sheet of copper with a dovetail joint around the base and up behind one handle. The bronze handles are firmly fixed with large copper rivets. The lid has a rivetted copper lifter handle at each side. Both the lid and pot are stamped with sought after mark for'Legry, 2 R. Very rare Victorian WW1 Fumsup / Thumbs Up chocolate mould. Made of tin with a copper front and back. Has two copper clips which you remove which opens to reveal the mould. This character has his thumbs up hence the name and is derived from thumbs up as a good luck symbol. Fumsup was a good luck charm in the late 19th century early 20th century from the Victorian era. I would suggest it is English not French and looks to be estate made. The spout has been altered to accept a rose i will include a copper haws rose that fits. I cannot express how much this is an outstanding piece and possibly the highest quality, most amazing antique I have ever owned. Measuring around 14 tall and 13 wide at the base, this closes to an opening of 7.5 in diameter. It has a sculpted iron handle. It is incredibly heavy well over 5kg my maximum limit on my scales.
